A few months ago I featured an article from the McKinsey Quarterly,“‘Great Attrition’ or ‘Great Attraction’? The choice is yours,” in which the authors stated that many employers don’t really know why their employees are leaving in droves. One reader wrote to McKinsey suggesting that the employees don’t know either. That’s the thesis of Lt. Colonel Adria Horn who served five tours of duty overseas and is now an executive vice president of workforce at a national telecom provider.
She suggests that the “Great Resignation is actually a normal response that most people have never gone through…I’ve experienced this after every return from deployment.” There may be lessons from her experience that will help you manage the Great Resignation.
