Charlie Munger
Vice-Chairman, Berkshire Hathaway
1924-1923

Warren Buffett, the “Sage of Omaha” is one of the world’s best-known investors and those who have followed his success over the decades cannot help but also be aware of his less outgoing, no less wise, partner at Berkshire Hathaway, Charlie Munger. Mr. Munger, who can rightly claim the same title, passed away this week at the age of 99. If you’ll take the time, you’ll find that the story of his life and success is no less compelling than that of Mr. Buffett.

Those who have followed both men are well aware not only of their prowess as investors but as paragons of common sense and wisdom as well. There will be no lack of articles and tributes to mark Mr. Munger’s passing but I hope you’ll take time for this CNBC video recap of his life (including some blistering and very funny one-liners!)

If you’d like a little more reading about  Mr. Munger, on Tuesday, December 5, an updated version of “Poor Charlie’s Almanack: The Essential Wit and Wisdom of Charles T. Munger” will be available which should be read by every manager….and if you’re an investor, check out Charlier Munger: The Complete Investor.

I’ll leave off by thanking Shane Parrish, the founders of one or my favorite blogs, Farnum Street, (which takes its name from Berkshire Hathaway’s Omaha Address) who has shared some of his favorite Munger quotes. Finally, if you have the time an inclination for a really long, but really worthwhile read over the holidays, Mr. Parrish has shared Munger’s thoughts on the “The Psychology of Human Misjudgment”   which is also the final chapter of “Poor Charlie’s Almanack. I think it will change you.

Rest in Peace, Charlie Munger. Thanks for the wit, wisdom, and wealth you brought to the world.
