It’s often said, correctly that feedback is a gift. The problem according to Adam Grant of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business is that it’s often not wrapped very well.   

A short post on his “Granted” blog illustrates the point with some great feedback on feedback: specifically, that unless we’re careful, what we say is not what the recipient of the feedback hears.  

Dr. Grant suggests that one way our well intentioned feedback would be greatly improved is to “Stop Serving the Compliment Sandwich.”
