And while we’re on the subject of generations…It’s been said in recent years that “80 is the new 60”, reflecting how better medical care and personal health consciousness is extending our useful lives. This has implication not only for on extended retirements but on extended work lives for Boomers and some even starting new businesses. 

One of the early examples of this is Colonel Harlan Sanders who didn’t launch his first KFC franchise until well into his 60s. Pew Research Center study from just last month reported that 19% of those 65 and older are working — nearly double the figure from 35 years ago.
