We’ve all heard the term “Resting B….ch Face” (or RBF; the male equivalent is called “RAF”, see this link for more information about both. Psychologists actually study this, and so do some plastic surgeons) .

Both mean “a facial expression that unintentionally creates the impression that a person is angry, annoyed, irritated, or contemptuous, particularly when the individual is relaxed, resting, or not expressing any particular emotion. “

Vistage speaker and sales trainer Colleen Stanley, one of the country’s leading experts on the intersection of selling and emotional intelligence says that there is a salesperson version of this. She warns that sales leaders often confuse “deal review” with “deal coaching” and that a consequence of this can be what she calls a “Resting Business Face” that your salespeople may be inflicting on your customers and not know it.

Are your customers getting “Resting Business Face” from your salespeople? Take a few minutes for a three minute video with Ms. Stanley to find out if you’re confusing “deal review” with “deal coaching.”
