For centuries, those fortunate enough survive to disease and other dangers of pre-modern times were honored for the wisdom that attaining a great age was thought to convey.

We can certainly learn from our seniors (and we should make greater efforts to do so)…but we can also learn from companies who have attained great longevity. The statistics about start-up survival,  family business persistence past three generations and average corporate life span in general, suggest that those who last 100 years may have something to teach.

A century of survival in business is too long a life for it to be just luck. Chief Executive Magazine has started a new annual series featuring companies with revenues over $100 million that have just reached the 100-year mark.

“In business, longevity mattersMeet the centennial companies of 2023—with lessons about reinvention and survival for us all.”
