One of the keys to managing ourselves is to understand and name our fears. One way to categorize these anxieties is: FOMO (fear of missing out), FOBO (fear of a better option) and now FOFO (fear of finding out). FOFO has long been observed in medicine as patients often don’t want to know if they are suffering from a particular malady.

The problem is that we can’t solve problems until we confront them; but “Revealing the realities of work can bring unfavorable information that requires action and challenges the comfortable status quo and carefully crafted worldview. It can make deniability difficult, it requires action, and potentially raises difficult questions.”

These articles from LinkedIn and Inc Magazine provide a good overview of FOFO that may help you be better at what leaders do: confronting reality.
